#MockingBirds Twitter Mock Draft Results

With just three nights remaining before the 2015 NFL Draft, I teamed up with good pals Trey Bader (@eaglesgeek) and Tyler Steege (@EaglesFanTalk) and completed a Twitter mock draft of the first round. There were no trades allowed and a brief summary (140 characters or less) followed each pick. Here are the results:

1. Tampa Bay: QB Jameis Winston
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: No surprise here, the Bucs get the most NFL ready QB in the draft. A potential franchise QB.

2. Tennessee: QB Marcus Mariota
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Mariota will go here, but to which team? Could very well be Tennessee.

3. Jacksonville: OLB Dante Fowler Jr.
My comments: Gus Bradley gets his pass rusher. The Jaguars will be better than you think this year.

4. Oakland: DT Leonard Williams
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Best way to rebuild a defense is in the trenches. Williams is the safest defensive pick in draft.

5. Washington: OLB Vic Beasley
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Perfect replacement for Brian Orakpo.

6. New York Jets: OLB Bud Dupree
My comments: He may be raw, but Dupree’s size makes him a potential superstar in the NFL.

7. Chicago: WR Amari Cooper
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Wanted to go defense with such a deep WR class, but Cooper is as close to a sure thing as it gets.

8. Atlanta: OLB Randy Gregory
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Failed drug test will hurt his stock, but nonetheless he is a top 5 talent.

9. New York Giants: OL Brandon Scherff
My comments: Eli gets some help with the addition of the strongest lineman in the draft.

10. St. Louis: WR Kevin White
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Nick Foles gets a #1 WR. White is explosive with the potential to be the best WR in the draft.

11. Minnesota: WR DeVante Parker
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Teddy reunites with his favorite college target. Parker has star potential.

12. Cleveland: DT Danny Shelton
My comments: Pettine gets a huge defensive tackle who will be the centerpiece of the defense.

13. New Orleans: CB Trae Waynes
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Best player available. Brandon Browner isn’t the long-term answer at CB, anyway.

14. Miami: RB Todd Gurley
@eaglesgeek’s comments: The ‘Phins are said to “covet” Gurley. One of the top players in the draft.

15. San Francisco: DT Arik Armstead
My comments: Extremely athletic for his massive frame. A great piece for a rebuilding defense.

16. Houston: OL La’el Collins
@EaglesFanTalk: Can play guard right away and eventually slide to tackle. Arguably the most talented OL in draft.

17. San Diego: OL Andrus Peat
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Pondered Melvin Gordon here. Settled with the most pro ready OT in the draft.

18. Kansas City: WR Dorial Green-Beckham
My comments: Andy Reid takes a chance on one of the most talented receivers in the draft.

19. Cleveland: WR Nelson Agholor
@EaglesFanTalk: The Browns need help at WR. Agholor will bring much needed consistency to the position.

20. Philadelphia: CB Byron Jones
@eaglesgeek’s comments: High character, athletic, versatile. Jones has Chip Kelly written all over him.

21. Cincinnati: S Landon Collins
My comments: The Alabama star will eventually replace current Bengals safety Reggie Nelson.

22. Pittsburgh: CB Kevin Johnson
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: The Steelers need secondary help. They wanted Collins, but are okay with Johnson.

23. Detroit: DT Malcom Brown
@eaglesgeek’s comments: The duo of Brown and Ngata will help make up the loss of Suh and Fairley.

24. Arizona: DT Eddie Goldman
My comments: The Cardinals need to replace Darnell Dockett, and Goldman is a perfect fit in Arizona.

25. Carolina: RB Melvin Gordon
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Cam Newton gets a dependable 3-down RB for the first time in his career.

26. Baltimore: WR Breshad Perriman
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Flacco gets his deep threat from the fast rising Perriman.

27. Dallas: CB Marcus Peters
My comments: The Cowboys take the cornerback in the draft with the highest ceiling.

28. Denver: OL Jake Fisher
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: Broncos need help upfront. Fisher gives them help right away.

29. Indianapolis: OL D.J. Humphries
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Colts defense needs help, but I couldn’t pass on arguably the most athletic OT.

30. Green Bay: ILB Eric Kendricks
My comments: Green Bay has a huge need at inside LB and take the position’s best prospect here.

31. New Orleans: WR Devin Funchess
@EaglesFanTalk’s comments: The Saints need help in replacing Jimmy Graham. Funchess could step in and dominate right away.

32. New England: CB Eric Rowe
@eaglesgeek’s comments: Losing Browner and Revis hurt. The versatile Eric Rowe can help bandage those wounds.
