LORG 2017 Season-Long Projections

Written by: Ray Butler

Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve made it. This (seemingly endless) offseason has featured a countless amount of trades, a keeper deadline and draft that was moved to an earlier date because we’re so dang impatient, a transition of owners (pour one out for RC), arch rivals turned into buddies (hey Frank), and SO. MUCH. ANXIETY. But no more. It’s here. One of the best weeks of the year has arrived.

With real baseball kicking off today, it’s time for the release of my second installation of season-long projections. Here’s how this all works: 2017 Steamer projections were used to create a weekly projection for each team based on the 14 categories that LORG uses. The compilations were used to predict the outcome of each matchup throughout the season, which, in turn, allowed me to project the standings for the end of the regular season. Using the outcomes from last season, I was able to take into account the extremes on both sides of the standings, so I’m hopeful that the projections you’re about to see are awfully close to the actual outcome of the 2017 LORG season. Of course, the data from this season will be used to further-perfect the projection system leading into next season. This is the starting point, but these standings will be updated each week to reflect actual outcomes compared to predicted outcomes.

Without further ado….
